When Greenville, New Bern, and Wilson drivers want the versatility of an off-roading vehicle without sacrificing any classic sedan comfort, they can always turn to the crossover. And the upcoming 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is setting an all-new standard for what your crossover vehicle can do.

In this review, our team at Pecheles Volkswagen will share everything we've learned about this intriguing, soon-to-be-released SUV.1

The High Performance You've Been Waiting For

Undoubtedly, when you choose a Volkswagen vehicle, you're assuming a high-performing engine will come standard. This shouldn't be any different in the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, which comes equipped with a speedy inline 4-cylinder.

Like other vehicles in its family, the 2018 Tiguan engine will come turbocharged and intercooled, maximizing your power and efficiency. The crossover is expected to generate roughly 180 horsepower and maintain 23 to 24 combined MPG.2

Nevertheless, handling is still a priority. While 2018 Tiguan drivers can stick with a front-wheel drivetrain, they can also add the 4MOTION® all-wheel drive system. This drivetrain is bolstered by Active Control, which allows you to easily adapt to changing road surfaces.

The Bigger, the Better

One area in which Volkswagen really wanted to improve the 2018 Tiguan was in terms of size. While previous models have offered plenty of space, the all-new Tiguan receives a small boost in size, helping to bridge the gap between itself and the bigger Touareg.

First and foremost, the all-new Tiguan features the option of adding a third row, allowing room for seven passengers. Then, with the 40/20/40 split seating, you're expected to have more rear versatility, enhancing cargo space.

The overall length of the vehicle is said to increase, as well. While the 2017 Tiguan maxed out at 174.5 inches long, the 2018 model is expected to reach 185.2 inches. For this reason, drivers can expect to have extra legroom this time around.

2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Technology

As with previous models, the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan is expected to add in a host of exciting technologies. For example, drivers will have access to the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, which features an available 12.3-inch screen with selectable display modes. These include:

  • Classic
  • Off-Road
  • Driver Assist
  • Navigation

An 8-inch entertainment touchscreen with Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect is also available. With this feature, you can fully integrate your mobile device into the Tiguan, accessing your favorite apps, navigation, and hands-free calls and texts on the go.

Finally, you'll have plenty of available safety features to choose from, including intuitive features like Pedestrian Monitoring and Autonomous Emergency Braking. When your Tiguan senses a pedestrian in front of or behind you, it'll automatically hit the brakes.

Keep Up with the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan

While these specs are all fantastic, they're only the tip of the iceberg. Greenville, New Bern, and Wilson drivers will find so much more when the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan arrives.
